Kilimanjaro route
A scenic, quieter approach from the west, crossing the entire Shira Plateau — often chosen for its excellent acclimatisation.
Lemosho begins on the remote western side of the mountain in lush forest, then crosses the wide Shira Plateau before joining the southern circuit used by the Machame route.
It is usually climbed over seven or eight days. The gradual ascent and extra days make it a favourite for travellers who value scenery and a good summit success rate.
Plan for a longer trek and a cold summit night. Training with long, consecutive hiking days helps.
